Pain Specialists of Cincinnati declares Workers Comp a Strategic Priority for 2019
In March of 2018, Pain Specialists of Cincinnati (PSC) acquired the practice of Physicians Healthsource Incorporated. With that acquisition came the unique blending of innovation and physician specialties, over 60 years of combined physician experience, and the sophistication of state-of-the-art medical care for the purpose of offering patients an integrated, companionate environment to be evaluated, treated, and rehabilitated for their work-related injuries.
This strategic acquisition gives the company the capability to manage both acute and experienced injury claims. PSC can now aggressively manage acute injuries placing emphasis on thorough diagnostics and functional therapies while at the same time, offering patients access to state of the art medical and interventional options to appropriately manage pain.
It is with this backdrop, PSC has declared Workers Comp as a strategic growth priority for 2019. This means that one of PSC’s new objectives is to become the single source of medical and rehabilitative care specifically for those patients who have suffered work related injuries. In a healthcare environment that is often cumbersome, inconvenient, expensive, and ineffective, PSC has the capacity to de-fragment the delivery of services increasing communication among doctors and therapists, and ultimately improving the patient's experience and outcome.
This effort is led by Dr. John Ruch who has spent most of his 30-year career navigating the complexities of Ohio Workers Comp. “More and more of my colleagues are throwing in the towel when it comes to workers comp, our aim is to simplify this process for Patients and their Attorneys”. Specific to BWC, Pain Specialists of Cincinnati currently provides Occupational Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Acute pain, Advanced Interventional Pain Management, Injury triage referral and management, Administrative hearing support, Physician of Record/Case Management support, Causation & additional condition evaluation, C92A Support (PPD Examinations), as well as BWC Billing and authorization expertise.
With a targeted 50% growth of BWC cases in FY 2019, Dr Ruch sees the challenge ahead. “These cases take more time, but with the strength of our clinical and administrative teams, we think we are in a unique position to make a positive impact for Ohio workers”.
